The Oriental-Andalusian “Night” or encounter takes the audience first to the roots of Arab and Flamenco cultures which were both influenced by gypsy tribes who were the “inventors” of flamenco. Each culture will be
presented individually through dance and music; and the appearing similarities and differences in rhythms and dance movements are always fascinating for the audience. The most thrilling moment however is when both arts meet, with the Oriental dancer moving to a flamenco rhythm or compás and vice versa; the percussionists of both groups also correspond directly, establishing a musical dialogue that starts
with tranquility and ends in ecstasy, with the dancers finally joining the powerful drums at the end of the first part. Also, in the second part, the instrumental players - Arab oud and flamenco guitar - as well as Arab and flamenco singer enter into dialogues that heat up the atmosphere and are based on mutual respect and admiration and finally involve all artists for the grand finale |
